I don't know of anyone that keeps rechromed 68 bumpers in stock. Mostly you have to send in your cores. Might want to try The Parts Place though. www.thepartsplaceinc.com

We have rechromed bumpers in stock for your car...
    Front $349 plus $150 core
    Rear $349 plus $150

Total $998 for the bumpers plus shipping.

If you want to give me shipping address I can get you quote.

    Thanks

Excellent, I may have to get together with you for a 68 front bumper. Are these done in show-quality chrome, or driver quality?

I got a set, front and rear bumpers for my '68 from the parts place a few years ago, they do want a core. But I am happy with how they look, just don't remember the prices.

We consider the plating as good or better than GM originaly plated them. It is a nice chrome job for the money, but we do not sell them as show quality.

Like "red68skylarkcon" he is happy with the bumpers he got from us.

While we do perfer getting cores, we do sell them out right with the core charge...

    Thanks

I guess my concern would be a comparison with my show quality rear bumper, redone by Keystone about 4 yrs ago. I get my car out of storage in a couple months, will have to look into this at that time. I'd be sending in my core.

In Shane's defence, they may not see them as "show quality" but they certainly look good, will try to get some pics, next time I have my car out. But I also bought the pair, so matching wasn't a big concern.

Shane, have your prices changed much. I thought it was cheaper when I got mine, but that was about seven years ago too. Just comparing to what you told David.

Yes; copper is part of the plating process, so yes the price has gone up.

Also, thanks for posting what you thought about your bumper. We don't want to mislead people and like I said, you are getting a nice plate job for the money.

    Thanks again

Shane, thanks for the info. Do you have a limited timeframe for a customer to send in their core for the credit? I may decide to order a front bumper soon, but won't have my car out of storage until early April to get the bumper off.

No real time frame that I am aware of, we really want cores when we can get them. Doesn't really matter when, as long as they are good cores.

What types of defects would cause a core credit to be refused? My front bumper is in pretty good shape but needs some straightening before a rechrome could be done.

David don't be afraid to use TPP bumpers. I guess everyones results and opinions could vary but my brother has a set on his 69 drag car and the chrome is very nice. I wouldn't be afraid to put them on my car.

Not afraid of them at all, just looking for as much info as possible. Thanks for the recommendation though! I'm sure it would look fine on my car, which is NOT a show car. The rear bumper got show chrome because insurance was paying for it.

having no extra holes or tears would make for an acceptable core.

Sounds good, nothing like that on mine, just needs straightened out.

My front bumper was bent not bad, just on the drivers side corner, and they accepted it.
