    Would a '70 Caddy with a 500 have come with a 800 cfm (7040230) q-jet?
All the sites I have found only give the application not the cfm rating.

    Thanks

    Mike,
I think they started using the 800's in 1971 on certain engines, so I would guess that even a 70 Caddilac would have a 750. If you know anyone with a 70 Caddilac chassis manual, or can lay your hands on one, take a look in the carb section. They have the specs for the different carbs by part #. Look at the outer (Large) venturi size, 1 3/32", for the 750, 1 7/32" for the 800, thats a 1/8" difference.

The only Qjets, to the best of my knowledge, that are 800 cfm are 71-73 455 Buicks and some 73 Pontiac 455's.

74 Buick 455 7044240 is deffinitely 800cfm (I've got one and I'm well versed in the difference.)

    Caddy? No

We've determined that the Caddy carb is a 750. Its always been my understanding that the Buicks had 800s from '71 thru '76.
