After a 3 year battle with ALS I can no longer drive. I will not be competing or attending any more events, but I do want to thank everyone I met in the last 13 years. Of all my hobbies over the years this is the best group of people I have ever hung out with. To those I befriended I want to say thank you, to those I have never met it's my loss. If possible will try to attend one more event to touch base with everyone. If not, I wish everyone the best and stay safe. Mike:beer
Mike I dont believe I have met you but I would like to from your post you can tell you're a stand up guy, I wish you all the best concerning your health, Let us know if you will make an event I'm sure i'm not the only one who'd like to shake your hand.
Mike, Sorry to hear the news. Having lost my sister last year to this disease I understand were you are at. Best of luck and enjoy. Sean
Miss you already. But thank you for all the time we had together. You really could make Yvonne smile and are a great guy. For some reason a Land Shark sure sounds good. Take care and Love you man
Mike, It has been an honor to have shared the track with you. I hope you can make it out to visit us once more. Our prayers are with you, Donny Brass and family <iframe width="853" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QT_8Mi9QSgs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Take care, prayers sent to you and your family. If you come to PSMCDR this year as a send off I would like to shake your hand. If not consider this an E-Hand shake. i assume this was a tough desision and I must comend you on sharing your situation as we all feel for you and want to support. Ryan
Jeremy and Donny said it very well, I agree. Hope to see you again at the track to shake your hand and thank you for coming out to join the fun. You will be missed.
Man this really sucks. To say you will be missed is an understatement. I hope you can make it out as a spectator. I have fond memories of that LS6 on slicks during test and tune. Pulling the front tires and twisting wheel studs, too bad nobody had a camera. Looked like an old super stocker! And probably my favorite Mike Hurd quote: "Hey if you dont like it, go to a f***ing car show" talking about the pure stock drags. Gonna miss ya bud. Prayers for you, and your family.
Mike, I am sorry to hear this. I was hoping for a miracle ray: . Please try to stop by the races if you can and say hello. You are one of the guys that I looked forward to visiting with every year. :beer
Mike, , You will never Be gone. You made good friends because you ARE a great guy! It's been an honor to race with you, and a privilege to sit and BS and have a cold one. I hope you can make it to martin, even to just hang out. Like Steve said " was hopin for a miricle" Never could figure out why my car looked so good in that picture-- Till i realized it was BLACK!! Take care man. Talk soon
Mike, it was great chatting with you on the phone the other day. I really hope that you will be able to drop in at Martin, even if it's just briefly. You are a pleasure to be around, and one of those people I refer to as a "good ole boy". Your all about having a good time, and you make people have a good time when they're with you. Again, really hope to see you soon. Stay positive, and we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. -Tom
Hey Mike....sorry to hear you won't be racing at Martin. Sure do hope you still come and hang out by the campfire ....you're a great guy to have a beer and a laugh with. I still belly laugh out loud recalling how you called out Owen Simpson and his Nova at Martin last year. " hurry up son...you're going to feel what its like to get beat by a full size, American luxury automobile" ....you killed me!
The first time I met mike was when we were paired off at the psmcdr, mike beat me and was as happy as can be, as it went a personnel best, it was worth it to loose! Then I discovered mike loved cigars and it was a new friend! I hope to see you at martin, and yes I will have a cigar for you!
Mike , so sorry to hear this , prayers to you and your family , we've never met and from the sounds of it I missed out on meeting a good person. Good luck .
Mike: 'Don't think I've ever met you, but thoughts and prayers go out just the same. 'Hope you can make it to The Pure Stocks this year. FWIW, we had a fellow in The Studebaker Club so afflicted who was given less than a year. He came to the Stude Nat'l Meet that year and said "good-bye" to everyone, not expecting to return the following year. But he did, and then some! :TU: All the best. ray: BP
