I had the misfortune of a lifter come apart on me the last time I was at the track.:ball: I took the motor apart and found nothing else wrong inside, so I just put another set of lifters in the motor. I replaced all of the lifters just in case there was something wrong with the set. My question is: I am reusing my TA 510 camshaft that only has 30 passes on it. Do I have to go through the cam break-in process again? If I do will I have to remove the inner valve spring like I did when I first fired the motor up?:Do No: Any help is appreciated,
    Tony

    Tony,

kinda, I put some cam lube on the bottoms of the lifters and on as much of the cam lobes as you can get to.. I still hand pump-up the lifters in a can of clean oil with a pushrod first tho. You should not idle engine for at least 5 min. Keep rpms 2,000-2500. Doesn't take anywhere near as long as cam break-in. Don't forget to change oil/filter if you use moly-lube!!

Cool cam BTW,:bglasses: what times are you running and what's the rest of your combo if you don't mind me asking?:TU:

    cam rebreak in?

Thanks for the fast reply Jeff! I appreciate the advice.
I really like the TA 510 cam. So far this motor only has 30 passes on the 1/4 mile drag strip and the best time has been 11.86et. I shift at 5200 and through the traps at 5500. I have not really abused this motor yet, so I do not know how fast it will go? The bottom end is all stock with the exception of forged pistons. TA 510 cam kit, TA SP intake with a 950 Holley HP carb, Poston oil pan, with an all MSD ignition system. I use the stock heads with TA roller rockers. 3:70 Moser gears in a ford rearend. The car didn't have a rearend when I got the car and my buddy gave the rearend housing to me. Oh! I forgot to mention that this is a 2900lb 1981 Olds Cutlass Supreme with a 1971 Buick 455 in it!!:TU:
    Thanks once again,

I really like the TA 510 cam.

Me too!!:Brow: Everyone used to say it sounds wicked thru the T/A 3" exhaust and Dynomax's!:TU: :TU:

That cam loves compression, lots of fuel, and airflow, so give her ALL you can...

    Good luck, :beer
