Carb fuel pump line

    On my '72 455 base... I had to replace the fuel line. I saw that Jegs offers one in stainless at a pretty attractive price, so I ordered that. Took about a month. Installed it today. The bends are perfect. The problem is that I can't get it to seal at either end, no matter what I try. Anyone else have this experience? While much thinner than the original, it seems solid, but I just can't get either side to stop leaking. Rebuilt my carb and replaced the fuel pump and now it starts and runs like a champ... until I discovered the leaks.

    SS lines need lubricant on the threads and between the line and fitting. I use antiseize. Install the line and tighten. Loosen both fittings a turn or two and wiggle the line around, then tighten. SS lines do not need to be tightened more than steel lines. If you've already over tightened the line to try to seal it, you may have damaged the fuel inlet or the fuel pump outlet.

    Thanks. I followed exactly what y'all said, (after a meditation moment for much patience :) )... and it did eventually work. Patience and a lot of wiggling and finger tightening. It now holds. Yay!! Now I can enjoy the exceptional job I did rebuilding the carburetor. Runs sweet.
