ok so one of my q jets has the good number for a 71 stage 1,7041242 i think it is with a 2340 under the first number.i know how to decode this cause of all the info ive seen on this website.but my main number(the 7041242)has a 0 in front of it.all the ones ive seen on ebay start with the 7 not 07041242 3240.what gives is this one of those replacement carbs?or the real deal?.............................thanks
Sounds like the real deal... In GM's world a 0 before the part number is common. Example: GS hood would read 001239816 on GMSPO call tags. To the outside world 1239816. 1971 Stage 1 replacement carb. #7047140.
Dave, I have a 71 Stage-1 NOS replacement carb with a 74 build date and it is stamped 7041242 like original.
