replaced my original q jet #704 3240 off a 455. This is what they sent me q jet #1705 5027. What is it off of and do I really want it? I still have my original core.

Your original core is a desireable unit. 7043240 is a 1973 Buick 455 800cfm carb.

I dont know about the new one you gave numbers for except it appears to be a 1975 carb.

    WHO is "they"?

If it's a production-line carb rebuilder, the numbers won't do you much good as they may have changed the internal calibration of the carb; or mixed-and-matched major castings.

A 170... carb is a smog carb. :Dou:

Thanks for the help. I still have my original carb that I took off my engine, I will be sending the remanufactured one back and getting my original rebuilt. Thought I would take the easy way out, by the way the auto parts store talked I was going to get back the exact same thing that I sent in.
