The photo below is of a Carter AFB (it's cast on the lower body), but the thing is, it doesn't look like my 1990 carter AFB 500cfm. Could anyone let me in on the carbs spec and what motor it was fitted to. More importantly.....what's the cfm and can I get the needles? It's for a 215.

    Carter AFB

The AFB pictured is for Chrysler products...send me the number stamped on the aluminum tag or on the front, low, passenger side. I can identify about 75% of those old puppies. Your 1990 AFB is an aftermarket 9000 series.

The 4131s is the Carter part number, the H5 is the date code (Aug.'65?). This checks out to be from a 1966 Plymouth, Dodge or Chrysler with either a 383 or 426 engine, with automatic trans.
As for the CFM rating, all I have is this chart... www.buickperformance.com/carter.htm that gives CFM by venturii/bore sizes, but it should be close if you want to check the dimensions.I'm guessing about 600 cfm., a pinch big for the 215, but try it, AFBs are pretty forgiving. Carter/Edelbrock jets and metering rods are the same (for tuning), and rebuild kits should be available (at least in "the colonies", hee, hee). Now, you owe me a beer! Buford
