Cavalier 2.2 beats Eagle Talon

    mjoe7 In the beginning God...

Today I was in my stock 1998 Cavalier (base model) with the 2.2 120 h.p. engine. This is my daily driver and it has been a great little car.
I am sitting at a stop light and next to me is a guy with a Eagle Talon and a Crap-can muffler system. His girl looks over at me and smiles, then he see's what she did and get's all mad.
The light turns green and for the fun of it, I floored it and squaked the tires a little (and I do mean a little) on take off knowing that he was going to prove to her what a man he was with his loud muffler, and off we go up and over a hill around a corner, and his car is making all kinds of noise and mine is happily and quietly reving right on past him, it was a close race but I still won and that was funny. He turned off so his girl would not see me again.

The moral of the story is a loud car does not make it a faster car.

    I hope someday I'll have a post involving my 67 Sky. with a 455.

My cousin has a 455 Pontiac powered GTO that is very powerful, so maybe the next story will be of a 67 Skylark 455 and a 69 GTO 455. Should be a good race.

I'm guessing it might not have had a turbo (or did all talons have turbo+awd?). If it did have a turbo, that's one sad, sad, little man behind the wheel of that Eagle.

  5. Madcat455

    Madcat455 Need..more... AMMO!!!

No.. Not all came with AWD or Turbo's(Only the high end Talon's),Those are infact sad cars. Its hard to believe how much a turbo can wake those cars up:eek2: :eek2:

There's a couple of turbo Talons here in town, it's just that they're all driven by middle aged women who don' know what they have. lol

Yah... as discussed in other threads, turbo talons can be pretty quick while looking very stock (there WAS an 11 second one here that looked completely stock, but he tore the drivetrain, then crushed it  )

    Non turbo DSM's ...

    Thats a whole other "beast"

  10. brblx

    brblx clueless

stock NA DSM's are indeed sad. i took my friend's 1st gen eclipse (header, fartcan, CAI, ect) with my stock 82 mustang...not GT. had an I6. with a vacuum leak, mal-tuned carb, and fouled plugs.:Dou:

    I sold the 67 & got a 70 GS 455

Well guys I sold the 67 sky. as it would cost way to much to restore. I just bought a 1970 GS 455 stage 1. I will post a picture of it when I get time.
Now I should be better off in the race against my cousins GTO 455. I'll be honest he is faster. I have another buick block that I am going to rebuild then I'll get'em.
I will post the results when I get them.
    Mike

  12. That guy in the Talon would be in a world of hurt if he told his girlfriend he'd have won if she wasn't in the car to weigh it down...
