    I was thinking about cleaning up and repainting my center link and tie-rods and just replacing the boot. Any thoughts? Or should I just buy new ones?

    Len Len Len!
    How old are they and what condition are they?
    If you are asking the question then you should just replace them. Just some more $$$$$$. :ball:

    Bill;

    I know, I know, just trying to see if anyone else cheaped out so I wouldn't feel so bad.

    It will have to wait until after the body is back on the frame; too many other parts to get to be ready for it.

    Len, Judging by the condition the last owner kept the car, you were probably the last person that replaced those! I think they're cheap enough. Think of it this way, with all the money you have in that car, the centerlink and tie rods are the least of your worries! lol

    Check out www.rockauto.com. All MOOG stuff, at good prices, Their service is great. They run discounts once in a while, maybe somebody here has got a code???

    Believe it or not, Advanced Auto has the center link for under $50. It is MOOG too! Autozone might have it too.

    Thanks to all. I will check the stores out this week.

    Jason;

    You're probably right, although I only remember changing the idler arm around '84. :beer

    For those who are interested. Advanced Auto Parts has the tie-rod ends for $ 33.00 each, the center link for $ 39.00, the idler arm for $ 19.00 (or so, I forgot exactly) and the heavy duty stabilizer link kit for $ 15.00 each (the cheap ones were $ 5.00 each); all were TRW. Monroe front shocks (heavy duty, but not adjustable with the spring) were $30.00 each.

    The total for the following parts was just over $ 265.00.
    Four tie-rod ends
    Two Stabilizer link kits
    Two Tie-rod sleeves
    Idler Arm
    Center Link
    Front Shocks

    Most of the stuff was available. I put a hold on purchasing the parts until after Spring Carlisle; I have to pay for the fuel, brake lines and emergency brake cables I ordered. I need to have them done by May; body will be ready to be put back on.

    If the boots are cracked and broken there is dirt and sand in the joints, so the best bet is to replace them. I bought all the parts I needed at Autozone.
