Can anyone tell me what CFM these are? I am guessing 800cfm judging from what I have read about 72 and up 455 carbs ending in 240......
    1972 455 Auto #7042240
    1974 455 Auto? #7044240

    Thanks!

    Thanks Larry!
Any suggestions for the best places to get rebuild kits? I did just order the Roe and the Ruggles books. Going to take a stab at doing a stock rebuild on my 750cfm and then if that goes well will try the performance mods from the books on the 800cfm carb.

    Thanks again.

    Md, Mb?

Was looking on the Gessler site at their exploded views. I noticed that they do not list the MD or the MB designations? (choke) What do these two mean? Of course I have both... 7029240 MD and 7042240 MB.
    Thanks!

I believe the letters are plant or production codes. I don't think that matters.

I figured I would tack my question onto this thread as it deals with the same thing, but how do you know what the CFM is form the numbers. My carb is numbered 7041544 MH 0951. I found out it means its from a 71 GS350 with an automatic, but do not know the CFM.

Only Q-jets that went on 455's were 800 from 71 and later. Your carburetor is for a 350, and it is 750 CFM.
