That goes double for me...... If it is an 97 LSI car, I'd fix it too.

Since your getting all this free advice here..:pp I'll give you mine. Check this out - http://www.thirdgenresource.com/91_z28_ls1

I met this guy on the power tour. '91 Camaro 'vert with a transplanted LS-1 6 speed. This car is sweet. you can pick those 3rd gen cars up for cheap, but as you can see, his looks way cool, and is way fast. Just a thought.

I would go for a 3rd gen F-body for transplant. They can be had really cheap if you shop around. I would also hold out for a V-8 model as the LT-1 would bolt in a lot easier, mounts are the same I believe and some of the other little things such as fuel lines etc, might also be different on a V-6 model. I think it would be way more trouble and expense to put that in the Skylark. Plus you might get hunted down by some of the board members! Brian

Yeah.. I've heard that too. It's always someone's brother's aunt's cousin who heard it direct from some insider at GM.

I won't believe it until I see it. From what I understand, the LS1 doesn't even FIT under the sheet metal of the 93-97 Fbody--the front of the hood is too low. That was supposedly the reason for the front end restyle.

I would put the Buick motor in the car. I often read in the car magazines about a Buick(or whatever) and when they have a picture of the engine, guess what?.....It's a CHEVY!!! It's too bad.I do realize that it costs more money to build a Buick engine, but when you've got a desirable model worth a considerable amount of money, putting a chevy motor in just decreases the value.

That would explain why my 97 had a 98 front end on it:Brow:

Yes, it is a 97 30th anniversary, with an LS-1, and a 98 front end.

    All factory.

    Yes, it is rare.

No matter what I do at this point, it will always have a junk title on it.

I did manage to squeeze the insurance for the same value as a 97 SS, but it's still totaled:(

Yes, I would like to fix it, but I'm having a lot of mixed felings on the subject:Do No:

Even with a salvaged title, it will still be worth good money as a classic car years down the road.

I'm sorry Darryl, but whatever I think or feel its too late now, you accepted the 11,000 payoff and its pretty much moot now. Car IS JUNK. Next time don't be so quick to sign papers.

I'd of fixed the car and NOT allowed the TOTALING of the car/title.

Not your fault!! but what a shame!!:ball: :ball:

    That was not my choice.

Kentucky law dictates that a car receives a junk title if damage exceeds 75% of it's value.

I did check into that, and the only way to get around it would have been to accept less money than it would have realistically cost to repair it.

And, oh, yes... We did look into using "used" parts.....
Still the repair bill was too high:ball:
