Hi, does anybody know if the Choke Pull Off (Vacuum Diaphragm) from a 1969 Rochester Quadrajet 2bbl and 4bbl are the same? Thank you!
Very doubtfull. There were dozens of different styles and ratings. It may be no good anyway. Push in the plunger and put finger over the hole. The plunger should not move out much until you release hole.
Looking at http://www.rockauto.com/ and comparing part numbers between a 1969 Riv and Lesabre with a 2GV carb, it appears the choke pull off is the same part number between the 4 and 2bbl carbs Note: Rockauto has been known to have errors in their listings but this info at least suggests there is a chance the part would be the same.
No guarantee I still say. I have a couple two barrels around and some ares different as you never know what the carb is from.
They are not quite the same. I remember thinking/trying that exact thing. Didnt work. If memory serves, the 2V unit was significantly thinner than the 4V version - less throw? I forget exactly why but it didnt work when I tried it.

Robbie, If you have a 69 Buick Quadrajet, it would take a Q3801 Pull-off. http://www.gesslerheadporting.com/gesslerheadporting/ghp.nsf/822dcaaaa26c6da985256dd80023623d/c80f8daabf75f846852574fd005f5a19!OpenDocument The Q3801 is an inexpensive pulloff, no reason to not use the correct pulloff. Get the right pulloff for your carb, dont try and adapt one from a 2bbl. The linkage travel and opening rate is most likely different. Give me a call with your carb number to verify proper application.
I have found that the correct part, regardless of the application is the place to start. Iit eliminates any thoughts of whether the problem is the part you are using.

Hi Ray, thank you! So you think it's the right part on the Ebay link too? I have doubts though...the metal part with the small hole in it looks to me a little bit shorter then the 4bbl one...could be just the picture ofcourse. I think Greg Gessler has the right Choke Pull Off for the 4bbl Quadrajet.
Okay, the plunger won't go in by itself when i start the engine, i have to push it and when the engine runs it stays in. When i shut off the engine the plunger will move out but will not get back-in by itself when i start the engine again. Cold and warm start up. Thanks!
Is there more information about the plugs? I've read some on other sites but more specific info would help. I would also get a new pulloff if you had any doubt. That one doesn't sound like it's working right.
The method discovered here is the best way to test a pull-off. If it will not retract when vacuum is applied, it is defective. It would surprise many to know how many of these units I have replaced to fix an issue, after others had "worked on the carb." If I tested and saw a pull-off retract slower than I thought it should, it got replaced. They are cheap, easy to adjust, and cheap insurance when cold driveability or air valve performance is in question. Just make sure that the unit purchased is for the carb in question; anything else is asking for trouble. One of the many things I have seen these units do, when defective, was to cold flood the engine, washing down cylinder walls, fouling plugs, creating a no start, and the result was a trip to me on the hook. In EVERY case, this condition was the result of a defective choke pull-off. I was there, guys.

Okay, how much would that be Greg? Also did my car run good when it was warm without a working Choke Pull Off. I remember that we checked and adjusted the air/fuel mixture (max. vacuum) sometime ago with probably a defective Choke Pull Off at that time. My question is: should i re-adjust or check air/fuel mixture or doesn't the Choke Pull Off affect that?
