Have 67 GS Qjet, suddenly started to flood.
    Assuming float problem.
Ran perfect, has been rebuilt, to what extent not sure.
Wondering if anyone knows of good carb mechanic in Cincy Dayton
area? I know I can send out to some good guys on this board but
looking for quicker fix if just a simple problem.
Would like to contact Ted Nagel in Cincy or others but can't remember
their IDs. I'm much older than my car!
    Thanks in advance.

Hello, I've got that same problem with my 67 carb- usually the needle and seat acting up.

The carbs were rebuilt be Carmen- I do not know anybody local.

This brings up bad memories, stuck waiting for AAA in the WIldcat...flooding then the
opposite -super lean. Car has been parked since then, just tired of breaking down in the 67.

I know a really nice guy named Fred Catlin in southeastern Indiana that works on carbs.

    Thanks for responses.
Have had the car since last fall, never had a Qjet before and have
been bragging about how great it starts, idles, and runs no matter the temp.
Fortunately for me happened in the garage!
Remember lots of threads expounding the virtues of the Qjet.
    Starting to wonder!
Have had a few Elelbrocks and no problems, just seemed like they took
a lot nursing until warmed up.

Removed the carb, so ready to ship or take somewhere, no luck on local repair.
Use to be a few guys I would trust, but they are gone but not forgotten!
Anyway was looking online for some parts suppliers.
Found number on back of carb 7033813 vertically stamped on body.
But this number didn't show up on any lists? Are my eyes bad or what?

Number should be stamped here on the quadrajet. Driver side above secondary shaft. Picture is upside down, baseplate on top in the photo.

I think that's a 73 Chevy carb, manual trans, probably a truck carb....at least the body.......

Thanks, I have nothing where you indicate. Wonder if original carb. Here's some pics.
On the plate at back 7033813, On the round aluminum looking dime size insert a circular number 7027147.
There's another circular set on the base casting 7033167. Getting real confused now.
Might get brave and start taking apart enough to see float and bowl.

7027 147 on the round aluminum tag is your carburetor ID number. It signifies a 1967 Buick 400 with A I R system.original carburetors prior to 1968 were identified on those round aluminum tags.

There you go. And the 67 Buick carb had the side fuel inlet.

I think the answer is pretty obvious. Call Mark or Ken and cry about how you need your Buick and send it to one of them. I am sure either will bend over backward to get the carb fixed and back to you quickly. Wish they were around when I was using q-jet's.

Thanks for all the info. It makes sense now.
Gees, for a while I was afraid I had a Chevy carb! OMG!
Haven't contacted anyone yet, but will start on the crying!:ball: :ball: :ball:!

Have had company for one week and gone for another, just got back.
Did get the name of a guy in Cincy that rebuilt it for previous owner. Talked to him and got brave.
He said he put new seat and needle valve and that it was probably dirt or something.
Took it apart and didn't see any problems, cleaned it and put in new filter as he suggested.
Back on car and to my surprise it started and ran without flooding. Not ready to claim victory
though just yet, will take for a couple of drives tomorrow while holding my breath.
Looks like it had a new float put in at some time. My best guess is the old filter is the culprit.
The cap on the closed end was loose and the glue was kind of brittle underneath, so maybe chunk
got loose and made it past the filter to the seat.:Do No:
But like I said, it too early to crow just yet, at least I got it back together!
The guy's name is Larry Ritter, lives in western hills area.
I suspect he is not in the same league as Mark and Ken but does do a lot of carb work.
I can get his phone number if any of you locals would like it.

Made it around the block a couple times!
    Didn't have to walk home.
Final question, the filter I got from Autozone is a Fram.
I believe the old one was too.
Any recommendations on good quality fuel filter?
Would like to replace it asap.
    Thanks in advance
