My car was painted three years ago and although the paint was shiney there was alway something about the way it felt that i never liked. I brought it back and it was repolished but it just didn't have that smooth as silk feel to it. I had always heard guys talk about using a clay bar but with new paint i didn't think it would do any thing for my car. well today i was in an auto parts store and they had mothers clay bar kits on sale so i bought one. Well i just did a 3x3 section on my car and i am in shock the finish is as smooth as can be and the lustre seems richer as well. I feel like an idiot for not having tried this sooner. And i am pissed that the paint shop didn't know anough to try this
I used the same kit on my car - it amazed me as well - there was a section of my roof that had a haze and rough feel that was completely erased and is now super smooth with no haze.
Sounds like BS come to Oyster Bay tomorrow and show us:3gears: LOL There is a 10% chance it's not going to rain.
Steve it wasn't the way the paint looked but the way it felt. I'll be there tomorow if the weather holds up. I was there two weeks ago and there were only 30 cars because it had rained during the day
I had heard all the stuff about clay bars and what they could do with the paint. So I went and bought the Maguire's brand kit. After about 3 hrs., and being pretty amazed at what it was taking up, I think that it's great. The whole car just seemed to have a deeper shine. Just looking at the stuff on the clay amazed me. I thought that the Cat was clean... boy was I mistaken. That clay bar is really something.
Anybody who hasn't tried the 'Clay Bar' treatment should get one and use it - the results will absolutely amaze you ! :beer :TU:
All you guys who are so impressed with using a clay bar, have you ever used just a light polishing compound (Meguire's or other)? I've always felt similar astonishment whenever I take the time (about every three years) to polish then wax my black car. I always ask myself, "Why don't I do this more often?" Anyway, I'm not doubting the clay bar; in fact, I've got some sitting on the shelf waiting for my sorry a$$ to get in gear. I'm just wondering if the end result will really be any better than what I've achieved in the past with liquid polish.
I have used the clay bars for a couple years now and just love it.. I have not found any polishes etc that will do the same thing. Use it once and you will be hooked.
Like i said i had my car back to the paint shop and they couldn't get that hazy feel off the paint. This stuff worked with almost no effort. Just spray detailer on the car and work the clay back and forth until it glides smoothly and viola a finish thats smooth as can be.
It works so good....after I was done...I placed my pack of smokes on the hood and they slid off....crashed into my beer glass and spilled the beer. I was choked.....wet smokes & a spilled beerou: But the paint sure looks great! Mark
I did my 66 Buick yesterday and it has never looked better. Smooth, shiny, and very nice color. The paint is original from 66. I looked online for tips and also used on the glass!
U guys have definitely convinced me! I've seen the clay advertised but haven't tried it yet, but I will now!!!
