I bought some quick detail spray, and used that as the "lubricant" for the claybar. Much like wetrsanding, you need to keep it wet, or it will streak. Work a couple square feet at atime and wipe dry.
Ken Try some MILD soapy water with it when you use it. Rinse occasionally. You don't want the clay to "skid" on the paint. I usually warm the clay in the microwave for a minute or so to "soften" it up in the cooler months before I use it. That stuff can get brick hard and difficult to work with as it doesn't take the shape of the body panels as well when it's hard.
Also, check the surface of the clay often. If it gets dirty, knead it like bread dough. It prevents scratches from crap it picks out of the paint and rubbing it all over the car. :TU:
It's extremely important for the vehicle to be totally clean, as just a small amount of grit can really scratch. Or if you drop the clay on the floor you should slice off the surface that touched the floor. I learned that the hard way. ou:
Meguiars' has a 'kit' with clay bar and Quick Detailer (lubricant) together - just follow the instructions on package, and if you drop it, get a new one ! Be sure to follow the clay bar with a good coat of wax to protect that smoooooth finish ! Check it out at www.meguiars.com :beer :TU:
