George is correct. Even the 71 350 2 barrel has a different number from a 4 barrel carb. For a 71 GS 455: With auto trans except export ---GM #7041190 With Conventional trans----------GM #7041191 The number in engraved on the top plate.
Ed, Are you after just the coil or the whole assembly ? The gaskets are not available that I know of. I had the 72-74 gaskets reproduced several years back because I couldn't find any. Tim
I have one that has 3190 stamped in the cover. In good shape but not sure if it is what you need. Came in a box of parts that I didn't use on my car. Bolts on with three bolts. Do you have a picture of what you need. I will try to take one of mine tommorrow.
Gaskets are easily made using header gasket material & tin snips. I was fortunate to find a NOS choke coil & well last year. No so lucky with a gasket.
Not sure what this finish is called. Gold cadmuim, possibly? This was new in the GM box when I bought it. Stamped 192 on top. Application for a '71 350-4V. I will be installing this intake & accessories on my car in May.
Zinc Dichromate and not gold cad although they look similar. The zinc dichromate shines a little more when fresh.
Do you know if 73 and 72 are the same design? I have 2 choke coil assy's that appear to be the correct 3-bolt design for my 72 intake, though the levers are different. One of them is stamped 3190, the other has nothing on it.
choke I used a 72 350 choke on a 73 455 with major rod adjustments btw the red one is a 455 and blasted one is 350. 445 's have a circular bent rod.
I asked Phil Sedlon, of hood latch refurbish fame, to put my choke coil in with his batch of gold cad work for the hood latches last year. It came out great and looks similiar to an NOS piece I subsequently got (looks nicer, actually). The point is, if you find a crusty working one, Phil is doing a hood latch run now and you might be able to convince him to do your choke piece. Good luck!
