Hello all, Updated info here... Im collecting the parts for a 425 conversion for my '65 Skylark. Not too interested in making a GS clone, just keep it Buick under the hood. I have a 425/st400 out of a Riv, and the correct GS exhaust manifolds. Now Im looking for the rest of the parts. frame pads ---Got em oil pump pickup tube ---Got it rear sump pan---Got that also Dipstick tube radiator What is the generic Ford radiator that some of you GS guys use? Im going to have to change/shorten the driveshaft for the trans. But im hoping to get a manual trans bell like the NWSpeed one. I also got all of the battery/ alternator wiring with the motor so I will be moving the battery tray to the driverside. Just bracketry. Are there any other parts I have forgotten? Thanks Guys, -Andrew
Andrew did you mean that you need the towers that bolt to the frame or the motor plates that bolt to the motor? the motor mounts bolt to it. I might have a Radiator cover for a 4 speed here. I have the motor plates off a GS and some steel ones my dad and brother made after braking one. just let me know. Doug
Hey Doug. Speedy reply. This will be a long term collecting project as Im a new Dad and have a job that involves some serious travel time. From reading previous posts it seems that I need all three. So it goes like this... Nailhead motor bolts to steel plates, they bolt to hard-to-find rubber motor mounts that, bolt to blocky looking steel castings that in turn bolt to the skylark crossmember. And all of these parts are 2 year only GS pieces. Killer. Might be easier to make some of this stuff like you did. Well I have to weigh the options and Ill be in touch soon. Thanks again, -Andrew
Thanks for the info Mark, Yeah I gotta call that guy. So the pump is the same. Is the dipstick/ tube different? I read somewhere that late '50s early '60s oil pans will work also. Regards,
