Are the convertible top pump and cylinders compatible from 1968 to 1967 A-Body... Delco #5044586 pump and A8 cylinders?

From what I found, it looks like the pump is interchangeable from 64-72...

    But the cylinders...
Some places I found suggest 67-69 are interchangeable...
Other places I found suggest 64-67 and 68-72 are interchangeable...

    :Do No:

    Thanks,
    Gil

I will try to help here,
When i was doing my 67 a few years ago i recall being told the 64-67 being the same and 68-72 being the same. This may have more to do with fluid????.
Now, the fluid from 64-67 is brake fluid from the factory and 68-up used tranny fluid(Dextron) this may have something to do with compatability when mixing used parts. I went with a new system fron HYDRO and went with tranny fluid as per their suggestion.
Hope this helps. If i'm wrong someone will jump in here.

Considering the 64-67 A body is generally the same dimensionally, and the 68-72 is the same dimensionally, the difference could be the length of the rod in the cylinder.

Note the 64-67 has a small raised welt to the rear fenders by the roof, while the 68-72 has a big raised welt in the same area.

    Hey all,
The 1964-1967 GM 'A' body cars have a cylinder that is 13.125" long retracted and 22.250" long extended, this is from the bottom of the tube to the center of the eye on the shaft. The 1968-1972 GM 'A' body cars have cylinder that is 15.125" long retracted and 24.125" long extended. As far as the pumps go...if it fits then use it as they are all pretty much the same except for the mounting styles. The only difference is in the 90's they went to a permanent magnet motor with no ground wire.

keep in mind that the earlier systems used brake fluid which is alot thinner then tranny fluid so the seals in the pistons might be diiferent.i wouldnt interchange them unless your going new the whole system.
