cray1801 Too much is just right.

Dude, where's the catch can? Anyway this color is standard when the coolant system has not been changed in several years. I suggest flushing it real good until the brown color is gone. Distilled water is also a good choice with your antifreeze.

That almost looks like Dexcool anti-freeze which I've heard you shouldn't run in the older radiators.Oh, by the way , the place I heard this was from a reputable sales person at Autozone so I took it with a grain of salt until I found out more and bought the Zerex( "maxlife"?)anti-freeze instead since that was what he recommended.

It was interesting to see this sludge come out since the previous owner told me hte radiator and water pump was "new". New to him, maybe. Low miles, maybe. YEARS old, definitely.

Car's real nice...very powerful motor. Was there a transition period in the 71's where some of the were made with high compression like the 70 models? This one seems to be quite strong. It also looks like it might have roller rockers on it. I can see in the oil fill cap and there's a rod running across the head.

Maybe the motor had some work done for hi-perf?:Do No:

    BROWN BROWN BROWN!!

Adam- Back in the day , I worked at a garage in high school. In the bathroom we had a sign "please don't flush anything bigger than a chipmunk!!" For those BIG jobs flush twice and wash hands !!!!:gt: :gt:

I have been cleaning the car up this morning and it is looking better every minute. I've dumped 60 gallons of silicone on the interior since it was sun ripened in So Cal.

I am in the middle of giving it a good paint cleaning and wax. Looking good! I also took a few swiped of silicone under the hood.

The motor is painted orange!!!:spank: :spank: :spank:

    Curses curses.

    11SecondGS ROCK THIS

    is it a 350 or a 455?

I'm not sure what you mean by the rod running across the head, becuase all buicks have that rod that the rockers mount on to, and that rod bolts to the head stationary.

Good luck with that part of the lawn the anitfreeze touched.

Seems like your real happy about the car, what did you do with the blue one?

I still have it...sitting in the street right now.

I am stupid when it comes to the rockers...it didnt look familiar to me so I thoguht it might be something else.:Do No:

The lawn was already dead where I flooded it with antifreeze:)

I know that here it's illegal to dump antifreeze in the ground. I just do it in a hidden spot so no one can see me. lol Hope they're cool with that in your state. Just don't want to see you get in trouble.

It's probably illegal. I seriously don't think anyone on this site will turn me in. If they do....:blast: :blast:

    Adam,

Nope...emission reg's and all. I'm sure it is a major wake up for you. After all, you've had a 350 before. 455's just run that way:grin:

    Adam,
Won't turn you in, but hope you washed down everything real well. I hate to see your neighbors pet drink that stuff (they will...antifreeze tastes very sweet) and die a very slow painful death. My Vet tells me it is probably the worst way to go...:ball:

Next time get the drain pan out :bglasses:
