The Cooper Discoverer AT/W is an all terrain tire that is extreme weather rated. It was released to the public in the Fall of 2014 so there were no published snow tests I could find when I ordered these over a month ago. I mounted them the day before leaving for a 750 mile ski trip. There was a little more road noise than the Firestone Destinations the Coopers replaced. I had to listen for it with the radio off. The noise is minimal. Dry traction, handling and ride were excellent. Based on the Discoverer AT/3, I expected the wet traction and hydroplaning resistance to be very good. It was. I have a set of the AT/3s on my work van. The tires did not disappoint in the snow. One night it was -8 and snowing and still traction was great. It snowed multiple times on our trip and there were plenty of steep mountain roads to test uphill traction and downhill braking. The tires had excellent grip on loose dry snow, packed dry snow, wet snow and slush. I had snow chains on board just in case and was very happy to not have to use them. Cooper says they will get better mileage and last longer than a regular AT tire. I'm looking forward to that. I highly recommend the Discoverer AT/W for anyone that will see snow duty and doesn't want to have to change tires when Winter is over. They are also made in the USA by an American company.

I have the at/3 on my Avalanche and love them. Good to hear the others are good too.

I'm in the middle of a second ski trip with the Coopers and this time we have more snow and I also ran them on snow covered ice. Again, these tires do not disappoint. They are excellent. The chains I bought for this truck, a 2010 Expedition 4x4, are still brand new in the bag :)

Just to add to your review Andy:
Purchased a set of 4 new Cooper A/TWs from CTC (...Canadian Tire Corporation - an automotive aftermarket parts supplier here in Canada), for my '06 GMC Z71 extended cab PU this year, based on the + reviews on various web sites I surfed - so far they have performed exactly as they should - no complaints whatsoever,
+ I got a $70 Canadian prepaid VISA card rebate from Cooper Tires !! :TU:

What did it cost to get the tires mounted and balanced

For me, mounting and balancing was 4 x $30, or + $120 (...Canadian) in addition to the cost of 4 tires. :TU:

I have always had good luck with Cooper tires. I had two sets of Cooper ATR's on my truck and got 80,000 miles out of each set. They were quieter than the BFG Rugged Trails that came on the truck and had far superior traction in all conditions.

I've had the Discoverer AT/3's on my Cherokee for the past year. Been very satisfied with them. They've worked well in the heavy snows we've had, and are comfortable on dry roads as well.:TU:
