my fuel line hose was cracked and leaking. the car had half a tank so i had to run it empty. ok so i was driving around town and some guy pulled up next to me and said lets race. he was driving some chevy s10 that had some crappy rims with almost no tire on it (dont people know the tire helps to give a smooth ride). it was a jacked up hardly any worked done on the engine but at least it had a good paint job with a flame on the side. i revd my engine and it just a little, the light turned green and i took off. i flew about 2 car lengths in front of him. i leveled off at 45, the speed limit out here, i will not break the law just to show him up (i know my car is better in every way even at towing). he then flew passed me hitting about 60-65 to bad for him a cop car was sitting down the road. he got nailed!

yea, i found out as along as you dont go faster then the speed limit you can accelerate as fast as you want. you could even smoke the tires out here. but yea i got him good and i beat he was crying oh why didnt you get the other guy too.

Thats not exactly true. Be careful. Smoking tires is exhibition of speed and an officer can site you. Accelerating hard from the light is considered drag racing if your vehicle's rear bumper passes the front bumper of a vehicle next to you, it is the officer's call on to site on this too. Ask me how I know. :Dou: Better yet, don't ask.

That happened to my Uncle once. He turned onto a road and smoked the tires then when the smoke cleared he saw lights in his mirror. Luckily the cop let him off with a warning.

Once I was accelerating easy with traffic in the Stage (just finished an $11K makeover) and the tires chirped (very short chirp) when it shifted to second. Cars all around and I was just driving with them.

Cop two lanes over heard it, pulls me over and reads me the riot act about screwing around in traffic. Threatening to tow and impound my car if I can't drive it respectfully. I tried to explain it is just a race trans, it shifts quickly and firmly and I wasn't horsing around but he would have none of it.

I was really getting nervous he was going to take it but he finally let me go with just a stern talking to.

In my white Turbo Regal I can get away with murder on the streets and the cops never give it a second look.

One of my Dad's cars ('70 350 GS) is/was like this and I had to really get creative on accelerating off the line. I didn't want to get another :spank: . Mesa officers may be a little sparse but watch out. Phx PD can be hardliners...thats been my experience, but highway patrol are the real :spank: .

its called improper start and there is a ticket for it and depending on how bad you smoke em and other conditions you could also get reckless driving. accelerating fast however not spinning or anything i cant see a ticket for.

i dont make smoke when my tires scrawl but i do accelerate very fast and not go over the speed limit. i dont know i guess it all depends on if the cop wants to be a dick or not.

Here in Ohio any break in traction can be a ticket for failure to control or reckless operation. There is no law on how fast you accelerate to the posted speed but Im sure most of our cars on here make quite a bit of noise when hit the pedal and that can be a ticket too. Luckily most cops appreciate a nice car.
