I have two conflicting reliable sources for what is correct on front WOM screws. I have a feeling it’s a mix of both, but if that’s the case, then everyone needs to be on the same page. Thoughts? Anyone with an original car? Here are the two types that are in question.

I have always seen the first type on our cars. It could be a GMAD vs Flint build thing too.

X2 what Brad said Flint built car, you may find sum with the same head, but a little longer. That’s what I found with the originals on my car.

I believe the second type was what was used on my 69 Oshawa Canada built car.

Would you guys believe me if a 70 X has those round head screws on it? Unrestored car. I'm gathering information on build dates and plants for this.

Well let's see what GM / Buick said:

The ’70 cars carried 2 types, Front #4879432 and rear #4879431.
An alternate screw according to Buick was #9420486.

The ’71 and ’72 cars carried just one style from what I’ve seen Front and Rear #4879431 of which was updated by #588546.

By April of 1976 ALL outside (NOS) moldings and trim carried a screw package #588546 for replacement of front and rear w/o moldings.

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

My '72 was built at Fremont in March '72 and has screws very similar to this style at every location, front and rear:

My '70 is unrestored and has original paint, was built at Flint in April 1970 and has screws these on the rear:

My observations are the pan head screws were used on the front wheel well moldings at Flint.

Pics of the unrestored GSX Mark M. @gsxnut brought to the 2018 GS Nationals.

First pic is the pan head screw.

Simple. Remove the wheel lip mounding altogether like Jim Bell did when he rolled the rear lips!

I've taken deductions occasionally as I do not agree the pan head to be correct for my '71 front WOM

my stage was built the second week of March 1970 has the same style head screw on all four corners. I also have a set of original paint 70 GS 455 fenders in the basement that have the same style head screw and the car was not a Flint car. And that was a late March built car also. I'm going to venture a guess here based on the replies above that there's no correct answer here as to how they were actually built and they used whatever was on hand and hence is a point (pun intended) that either shouldn't be judged or a concensus of how it should've been is reached & going forward base judging on that.

My goal is to make sure anyone judging these cars are on the same page about this. My concern is that is had two very reliable sources tell me contradicting answers. So, as of right now, it might be a toss up on which screws are correct. Just looking for more evidence to see if there is a correlation.

For everyone to be on the same page, you do need to run this by Sid and get his blessing.
