Hi,i`m looking into an original style battery for my `66 GS,does anyone know which was the correct battery for them?was it the DC-12 or the G-27?the guy from the vintage battery told me that the small blocks take the the DC-12 and the larger engines take the G-27 is this info correct?any help appreciated.

I'm into Olds, not so much Buick, but maybe this will help you:

I have a January, 1973 edition of the Delco Energizer Battery Wholesaler Catalog. It lists "R-series" batteries for your Buick instead of "G-series." I suspect this is just a substitution on their part, but perhaps the info they provide might help you determine the proper original battery for your car.

The catalog lists for the Buick Special/Skylark/Century:
    66-70 300, 340, 350: R59S (or R59)
    66, 68-70 400: R69
    67 400: R59S (or R59)

The R69 and R59(S) are nearly identical in output and are identical in size except that the R69 is listed as 9.5" high while the R59 is 8.75" high. If the taller battery is not available, I don't think anyone would notice the difference.

As far as vendors are concerned, I like Antique Auto Battery in Hudson, Ohio. Check out their website.
