Hi. I recently bought a 72 skylark 350 convertible - A/C car. I have all of the A/C components except most of the hoses/lines. I found a 71 full-size buick 350 in a yard and took the hoses (still under pressure) but when I got home I found out the bends are all wrong. I found that Original Parts group sells hoses but not cheap eg. compressor to evap hose alone is $215. So I guess any decent A/C shop can fabricate these hoses? Would they be cheaper than OPG? Would they look OEM? Any other sources of parts? None of the old car junk yards had A body GMs. thanks! -Dan
I just discovered from reading this board that the parts place seems to have better prices on these lines. Still wondering if local a/c places can make these. I may call around to see but I bet parts place is the best option.
I am missing everything except the hose that goes near the radiator (receiver/dryer?) back to the valve at the heater box. So that's both hoses that go to the compressor and also the can which mounts to the inner fender (I believe). I do have lots of hoses and that can from a full size 71 but at least some of them aren't going to work due to the bends on those hoses.
I'll send you some pictures to make sure what you need. Could save you some cash. New ones are pricey.
Find a local hydraulic hose shop in your area, the kind that replace the hoses on heavy duty trucks and construction equipment, they will be able to make any hose you can't find and usually at a very competitive price.
