I think the biggest problem with bitcoin is ignorance. The whole blockchain/mining thing is fascinating, but only a small percentage understand it. So, like with many investments, oil wells, art, business, peer to peer lending, coins, old cars etc., so many crooks and shysters take advantage of of people’s trust and gullibility (especially when those start getting returns or see value rise). Paid shills like athletes, influencers and other dumbasses make it worse. There may be a real, solid value and place for crypto and both need and opportunity for investors (like there was for oil wells 100 years ago), but there’s tenfold opportunity for scam and fraud. If crypto can’t seperate the real from the scam it might all fail.

My take is simple.. Cryptocurrency is simply not required in our society. You can trade dollars electronically with no problem. Yes, it's all fiat currency, but the simple fact is that your bitcoin is worth nothing in the real world, until you turn it into dollars. True of every investment.. ever try and buy a car with a bag of gold.. ain't happening..

Because it's not required in our society, it's value is hypothetical. Therefore it is open to much wider value swings than tangible assets or even the dollar. If you play the system right, you can attain wealth with it, but your also just as likely to lose your shorts.

    Interesting development:

"Bankman-Fried is widely known to have donated roughly $37 million to Democratic candidates in 2022. But in the interview, he claimed to have donated “about the same amount” to Republicans. He said he did it anonymously because he anticipated a backlash if his ties to the GOP became public."

So if he gave money to one group you don't like -- it's true!

But if he gave it to another group you do like-- fake news!

    Such intellectual consistency...

Seems that anonymous donations of that magnitude are against current laws. But given what he has done, he may have hidden that also.

Based on most of his posts....He still is! LMAO!:D

I very much believe in Crypto....... Cryptozo0logy!!!!! A new species is being found weekly. Some of them identify as something other than he or she.

By the way, the only reason Fried made that lame statement was that he was outed in making those donations & knew he had to say something that could not be easily verified. Thus the anonymous part!

    God Bless

OK guys. This thread has some redeeming value, but once again, it has taken a bad turn. Enough.
