I was cruising last Saturday night...and along comes a 93ish Del Sol VTEC. He blipped the throttle next to me a the stop light. I of course had to race him. He was about 1 car length behind me until about 40mph. He started passing me when he hit 3rd! That's ok, I'll find him next year...when Jim is done with the motor:Brow: BTW, the Del Sol packs about 160hp stock, and weights about nothing. Compared to my weight and 260hp, I could not hang with him. I used to have a 250hp Integra (supercharged sleeper that looked completely stock), and spanked people left and right. I would have chewed him in that car. It just makes me more determined to show the Buick torque next summer. She is coming alive soon!!!!:3gears:
ARGHHHH! Nothing like getting a lesson in the importance of horsepower to weight ratios to ruin your day. - Freed
i believe he has a 1970 skylark with a 350-2... i might be mistaken though if its stock its a high 16 second car i only know this because thats what ive been told about mine
Del Sol Si's (the VTEC ones), ran mid-low 15's stock. Nice little bite sized treats for my daily driver, but mean, pocket sized bullys for my Skylark
Sorry, I guess I should have said...it is a stock 350-2 Skylark. It did run down the track way back in 1991 though, twice. It ran a 16.5 and 16.2 with decent reaction times. No match for a correctly driven Del Sol VTEC. My Integra ran consistantly 13.8 to 14.2 with drag radials. Oh well, time to give the Buick some love!
Well, either love or a nice 550 hp Burek 350. :Brow: I have a feeling there is no Del Sol on the planet that can compete with that kind of horse power.
Well what would run stronger though, a 550 hp 455 or a 550 hp 350??? I would think the 455 would because of the torque difference would more than make up for the weight difference, if there even is a weight difference.
the 455 would be streetable at 550 the 350 could be streetable if gas statios started selling 106 race fuel
Rob Margel(TuBBed)has a buick 350 that makes 527 Horsepower. I think Jim Burek built/worked on it, and that's alot of horses for a small block engine, and it still has more potential:bglasses: :3gears: -Cody
