I want to paint my transmission with grey por15 before I install it. It has cleaned up pretty nicely but I'm having some difficulty in the hard to reach places. Any degreasers you would recommend?
I just asked the boss (wife) if she had heard of simple green. She gave me a mean stare pulled out a bottle and said "I Guess this is for the car".
Did my switch pitch a while back. It was nasty! Lump of mud shaped like a tranny. I used a scrub brush an all kins of stuff. nothing was work as fast as I wanted. I tried my wesley's white wall ceaner. work best of any thing I tried by a long shot. If you use it I suggest the 1/2 gallon refill size.
miniral spirts, thats whats used in parts washes. its only about $3 a gallon. soak the areas then brush off. wipe down with thinner before you paint.
I like using kerosene or diesel and an old toothbrush to get the heavy stuff off. Then simple green takes care of the kero or diesel.
In some circles friends with a power washer is just the quickest and there isn't going to be hard to remove stuff left behind I guarantee it...Oh and por15 is thee best I accidently left my spare tranny out in gramps back yard for 2years I wipped it off and it still looks like it came off the show room floor....
Go - Jo is what we use to clean the bottom of aircraft. It works well on the grease baked on by the hot exhaust from the stacks.
