Reproduction Delco Eye to replace the non-authentic looking version that comes with the Battery Toppers. This eye is modeled after an original eye and has a translucent center to make it look more authentic. The original Eyes did not glow green on the non-sealed batteries, it would turn black if the battery was full, or have a slight yellow tint if the battery needed water. Only later model sealed batteries had a green eye. Due to the variation in the battery topper holes, the reproduction eye may be required to be glued in place or slightly sanded to fit. My 20-year-old topper has a very tight fit, my brand-new topper is looser. Price for one eye is $17 and that includes the crazy shipping cost USPS charges. Add $9 if Priority US Mail is required. Contact me at mrtromm@yahoo.com if interested. 1st photo- Reproduction Delco Eye that is for sale. 2nd photo- Reproduction next to the version currently sold. 3rd photo- Shows an original eye (yellow paint on very early versions) with stock version and reproduction version. The sizes are the same, but the photo makes them look different. 4th photo- installed on a new battery topper. 5th photo- Installed on my car.
Derailed...LOL The real question is should it even be on the battery at all? I could not find a good answer on what side it should be on, some reason 20 years ago I started putting it on the neg terminal.
I am not saying I am correct by putting it on the Neg side, it's just what I have been doing. I may remove it entirely.
