Delete the Cruise Control Module

I hope I am posting this question in the right location. If I am not in the correct location on the forum, please let me know and I will repost in the appropriate place.

I have a 72 GS 455 equipped with cruise control. My car is not all original. In an effort to declutter the engine compartment, I would like to remove the cruise control module. The existing set up has a two-piece speedometer cable with one piece going from the transmission to the module and the second piece from the module to the speedometer in the dash. Obviously if I remove the module, I need to run a replacement speedometer cable from the transmission to the speedometer. I looked for a replacement speedometer cable on the Internet and cannot find one that specifically says it's for a non-cruise control car. I have a 200 4R transmission in the car. My questions: What is the correct speedometer for a non-cruise control GS? Will a correct non-cruise control cable be long enough to connect the speedometer output on the 200 4R to the speedometer in the dash? How difficult is it to get to the back of the speedometer in the dash to connect a replacement speedometer? I hope someone has addressed this issue.

Thanks for the information on the cable. I don't know if my cruise control worked, I never tried it. If I decide to move forward with removing the module I will let you know and you can decide if you're still interested in purchasing the module. Once again thanks for the info on the cable.
