i have a th 400 going behing my 455. i have an ati overhaul kit with all smooth clutches. the direct clutch has .030 clearance with a wavy plate and the forward clutch has only .014 with the new plates and wavy, .019 with out the wavy. with the old plates and frictions the direct has .019 with the wavy. the new frictions are .082 and the old were .078. all of the steels, old and new are .075. 5 frictions in each set up. what would be ideal clearances and how to achive? no brake or anything in it. bought the tranny used so i don't know how it shifted before but the clutches didn't look bad. thanks in advance.
