As many of you know, the 700 455, and probably most if not all, distributor takes a "O-Ring" around the shadt. Does this eliminate the need for a gasket at the timing cover?
I’ve only ever used the o-ring around the lower portion of the body. Never anything underneath the lip that sits on the timing cover, if I’m understanding your question.
Yes, I’m aware. OP mentioned a gasket. Never seen one on a Buick. My old Pontiac used a gasket, no o ring
I was confused about this a few weeks back too. When you Google it, a couple gaskets come up. Did the Skylarks and Specials come with the Chevy 4.1L Inline 6? Maybe those take a gasket and not an O-ring?
Ahhh, I always forget about the 250 CID inline 6 cyl in the Skylarks. Yes, that paper gasket is correct for that application. Devon
