but i like the sun, the sun is warm and friendly. why would you want to do something mean like shoot trash at it?
montana suffered more actual damage from last years forest fires than california did! it is just that we dont have as many spoiled californians with their overpriced homes out in the boonies....pretty close :eek2: but not quite... yet. does that mean we need to get a jackpot full of federal money too? maybe we can use that money to start our own space program..MASA. we already have a huge expance of open, unoccupied land [any closed down lumber mill] and a place to splash down in [berkley pit] and a long, straight runway for the space shuttles [I-90]ou:
If it weren't for the Space program, how would we have Satellite TV?! Cell Phone COMMUNICATION?! Satellite Military DEFENSE systems?! Satellite "observation" systems (Hubble telescope!)?! Just a "few" examples that come to mind... As far as to how "our, your, my" tax money is being spent, it is NOT "our, your, or my" tax money, it is the GOVERNMENT'S MONEY, no matter HOW you look at it! When you DIE, where does "your" money go? To your family? No, because they get TAXED, as INCOME, by the GOVERNMENT! So, WHO'S money is it, again? It always goes back to where it originated: The Government! That is why THEY can use THEIR money HOW they want to (whether you/we like it or not)!:Smarty: I'd RATHER see that money go to SPACE, than to go to IRAQ!:af::blast: Call our troops home, turn the Hubble Space Telescope around to use the lens to reflect the Sun's rays DIRECTLY to the Middle East (ever see what a Magnifying Glass does to ANTS?)!:Brow: The U.S. has an Obligation to continue the Space program, for OUR Security, for OUR Convenience, for OUR Technological Advancement, as a civilization! ALL HUMANITY has a lot to gain from what we learn from Space! It could mean the continuation of our life on this planet, or if we should IGNORE it, it could mean our DESTRUCTION! Depends on how you look at it!:Smarty:o No:
To answer the direct question asked by this thread "Do we really need to go to the moon?" I'll answer it directly. NO. it is an unhabitatable waste land. I think they determined that in the 70s, and never felt the need to go back. The moon has nothing to offer except storage for waste, which we will never use it for. Mars offers hope, but the moon is dead.
Hi Scott, How are you? Are the above items being suggested as improvements to my life? If so, I am sorry, but still don't see the need for the {as the liberal Carl Sagan used to say} "billions and billions" of dollars in spending. I completely, 110% agree with your comments regarding the money situation in this nation and the Iraqi war as an investment in our future. How's that Stage II project coming? :beer
