I had a chance to inspect this 72 GS 455 today, and I am somewhat puzzled. I have not seen these double belt mldgs on GS cars before. The current owner has had this car for over ten years and supposedly bought it from the original owner. He had not seen these on other cars either. Are we in the dark here, or is this some sort of optional trim package? I have seen them on Skylarks, but this car seems to be a legit GS. What gives? I am seriously thinking of buying this car, but do not want to get involved with it if it is not the real deal. The vin says GS 455 all the way. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rudy E

My 71 Stage 1 had them as well. Like a dumb*** I removed them before painting it in 89....when I redo the car someday I will put them back on again.

Thanks, guys. This makes me feel more confident about the car. I am eagerly awaiting the Sloan work up on the car, as I gladly paid the fee to get the full documentation on the old girl. I see that the W2 option may very well add extra proof of the car's authenticity, as it will be on the order sheet for this one if its legit. Thanks again, Rudy E

    Rudy,
Glad to see it worked out for you. She'll make a real nice car with a little work.

I am going to be purchasing another 72 GS455 that I found down here and am interested in the Sloan documents you mentioned. How would I go about getting them for the car I am looking at. It also is a real GS455 per the vin, but I would like any additional info.
    Thanks..
    Warren..

To get the Sloan documents, call 810-237-3450 and ask for Andy Clark. With the vin number, Sloan can give you the original dealer order sheet, available options, and even dealer invoice date and amount. With this you will be able to compare the car to its original configuration. 1972 Model year should be no problem for the museum. It normally takes about a week, but rush is available usually next day. I ordered mine on Monday and had a fax copy by Tuesday at lunch time. No other way to go for documentation, good people. Figure on spending about 40 dollars for the service.
