There is a copy of the Buick Performance Engine Manual 1964-1987 by Steven Dove for sale on Ebay. Is it a good reference? I have a Riv with the 455 and I thought I might pick it up. I checked with Amazon and they don't have any available. Thoughts???

Is the one for sale the new one or the old one?

    Used

It is used but claimed to be in mint condition from cover to cover.
Here is the link. It looks good to me, and I'll certainly watch and probably bid. My question was really if folks were familiar with it, adn was it a book worth adding to my shelf?

    Pat,
It's a good book with useful information in it. That being said, Poston sells the book for 19.95+ 3.00 shipping. Just don't pay more than you should considering that. Lots of uninformed people pay more than they should on E-bay for things they can get elsewhere cheaper.

    Yo Pat.

And unless the book has been revised, there is some outdated info in it...

There is no mention of the teflon cam bearings, double grooved cam bearings or TA's booster plate and regulator.

And Dove mentions cutting a channel in the front cam bearing seat. This is no longer necessary due to TA's doual grooved cam bearings. And if anyone uses them, get the teflon ones, and be sure to install them with the holes in the correct location!

Poston has the copy right to that book. Everyone else buys from them! go to www.postonbuick.com or call them.

also states that boring without a torque plate is ok, not much in the way of specific tolerances shown. this website is a much better reference
