This weekend I was driving to KC to race and started to count the number of drag strips I have raced at and I have come up to 20, but I might be missing one? Twin Cities, Minnesota dragways, Kil-Kar, Rockfalls, BIR, Las Vegas, E-town, St Louis, Bristol, Indy, Norwalk, Stanton, Martin, Topeka, KCI, Munci, Milan, Clay city KY, The airplane runway in Ohio, the track in Indiana that we all drove on the track to dry it off. How many have the rest of you guys been to?? Jim
I'm a relative "newbie" to this drag racing thing. I have been on only four (4) tracks. US131 Mid-Michigan Milan, MI Lapeer Dragway Gee, you could even call me a "homer" for all of these tracks are within only a couple hours of my home! I have been to Columbus, Norwalk, and Dragway 42to specate the F.A.S.T. events. Do those count???

Hmmmm... 1950's: 1. some old abandoned airport near Murray, Ky years ago, guess you could call that a drag strip. Had a flagman and 2 painted stripes for the start and finish line. Not much else available back then (late 50's). 1960's: 2. Atco, NJ 3. Vineland, NJ 4. York, US 30, Pa. 5. Milan MI 6. Detroit Dragway MI 7. Motor City Dragway, MI 1970's, none 1980's none 1990's- Rob driving my car: 8. Milan Dragway, MI 9. Stanton, MI 2000's: 10.Quaker, Salem Ohio, (Both driving) 11.Norwalk, Ohio, both driving 12. Byron, Ill, me driving for the rest of these. 13. Morocco, US 41 (?) Ind 14. Martin US 131, MI 15. Kilkare, Ohio 16. Beaver Springs, Pa. (York reunion) 17. Indianapolis Raceway Park, Ind. What was that drag strip that Brad Rising put on that was a old airplane runway? At the finish line it started to go up hill, and when you did a burnout, you couldnt see the start line.
Quaker raceway in Salem, Ohio. Remember the Starter Nazi? I thought a few people were going to deck him.
I remember when bob K did a john force burnout past the starting line because you couldnt see it untill you were on top of it and the starter raised his arms and started to whine. Ya, he should have been decked!!!

Mike, Thanks for jogging my memory. Manhattan, KS -- an 1/8th mile pit on the highway between Manhattan and Ft. Riley. Hope for some rain in the week prior to going to that place. Otherwise, it is a real dust bowl. Hodges--You are right, US 36. I thought about going there one time but then I thought better. Kind of tough to go someplace else when I have KCIR literally in my backyard.
