I'll start off by saying that RJ (dualqwad) had the best of respect for ya'll here, and did love his Wildcats -- I'ts a chore going through all his stuff and remembering his reactions when he got this, found that, or bought something else. Everything came with a story, where he got it, how much he paid, what it's worth, what it will fit, where it goes, how many were built, how rare it is, etc, etc, etc. There are just so many goodies it's kinda overwhelming. I want to thank those members who are helping me decipher what's what, and their approximate values (you know who you are and I respect your anonymity). My plan will be listing items for sale via eBay and linking to items here in this thread (I hope that's within the rules - if not someone let me know). The first items up for bid will be a '65 dualqwad setup -- it is complete, rebuilt, and ready to bolt on. I believe it fits the 401, 425 from '63-'67 The carbs have been verified '65 correct. There will also be a matching air cleaner, as well as the acorn nut. Also up for bid will be a two spoke wood wheel, it is clean (show quality), complete (with horn buttons, and center cap). here is the dual 4 barrel intake here is the air cleaner I ran out of gas doing this ebay thing... will post more tomorrow night...
Thanks for the heads up. Robert was always digging up the good stuff for his cats. I'm sure I'll be bidding. Thanks, Rick
ok after a couple of inquiries on the wood wheel, here's the listing... believe me this is a choice wheel. I will offer up detailed pics to those who PM me. I think the reserve is set at a fair price for a clean, origial, non-cracked, complete functional wheel in this condition. Thanks for looking
Believe me when I say, me too!! If I wasn't in such a finically bad place, I'd be putting together one really nice memorial Cat!
:af: FRIGGEN EBAY... After reading through their policies/accepted-payments (link above) I haven't found anywhere where I am in any form of violation. Lets see, "In order to use our service, you have to offer our other service, and on top of the charge for listing, and a percentage of the sale, we're gonna charge you a percentage of allowing for the convenience of getting paid." They do give me a choice though, (just like my local residential Gas company) I can accept it like a man moonu: ) and cook breakfast when it's done. o No: Maybe someone can help me see this some other way. RgggH!! The item will be re-listed in the next few days.
Here's where they got you: https://cms.paypal.com/cgi-bin/mark...eement_full&locale.x=en_US#4. Receiving Money. Section 4.2e: "Sellers may not charge a surcharge for accepting PayPal as a payment method." And don't forget Ebay owns paypal.
The same thing happened to me last year because of adding an extra 3% for paypal sales...I had listed several 65 Chevy Impala NOS pieces for my brother and all were canceled the LAST DAY of the auction....that was a smack in the face since the auctions were almost over. Also, Ebay is charging about 8% for items sold...just sold a T-Type steering wheel on Ebay for $152 and was charged $14 from Ebay. Hang in there and my condolences for your brother Robert.
Wow...what a pain in the arse...just goes to show what happens when one company owns the whole process. maybe the V8 site could start their own auction section....ALL Buick parts ALL the time! :3gears: Tom Mooney
That's why most people just quietly reem you on shipping. You can't dispute shipping. You see the price, you agree to pay it, it's done. Evilbay can't do squat. That's probably why so often the shipping charges on ebay are ridiculous. It didn't used to be that way in the old days. I remember paying by check all the time and accepting checks. Before paypal things were a little slower but also cheaper!
i agree with you to a degree on shipping charges.but a lot of the increase is due to the greedy shipping companies.ie:ups, fedex,& usps. i traded intakes with a member here to help him out.cost me $40 to ship a b4b,& it cost him $60 to ship back an offy in the same box (usps). i admit to quoting a couple bucks higher in my auctions, but this mainly due to currency exchange that may move a few cents on the dollar in the week it's listed.
Yeah, I have a better understanding of some of the frustration that led up to my brothers demise. eBay used to be simple. Back in the early 2000's I worked for a company where three of us handled liqudation of over $1,000,000 in fashion apperal, we took cashiers checks, and money orders only, had no problems and blew through the whole listing, selling, shipping in just under 75 days. Back then it was simple - today it's kinda a hassle. I'm sure a lot of this new regulations has to do with the patriot act, and is setting the stage for income tax reporting. ok, enough ranting from me -- for those that may be interested, here's the re-listed items: BUICK DUAL QUAD INTAKE MANIFOLD Buick wood grain steering wheel
WOW! I have three in the basement with good horn bars.Hard to believe they are bringing this kind of cash.
Riviera wheels don't bring that kind of $$$.....that was a rare Tri-Shield one for a WildCat :TU: Horn bars are pricey too...... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...86478&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:B:WNA:US:1123 Peace WildBill
