In looking at the forums they run about the same as a stock manifold but don't have the weight. I think with a spacer and a trim to the plenum divider they can run pretty good above 5000 RPM. Stock they are a dual plane and as such work pretty well on the street with a bigger cam. I'm running one and don't have any complaints. I don't think I would pay the price for a new one. Wait around a while, they come up for sale once and a while on this board. Mike D.

The best thing about them is that they will allow you to use a big cap HEI on your '70- '72 455 Skylark or GS with the GS aircleaner and hood without any mods other than trimming the ram air seals down a bit. That right there was worth it when I got mine (Had no idea TA existed in '97 when I did it)

I was in love with mine when I bought it- because it was an intake manifold that wasn't cracked:laugh: . Of course, I paid 220 bucks after shipping and tax, so that helped the love a little, too.

Downside is that it does not have a "stove" for a thermostatic choke. You can buy aftermarket ones and install them on the manifold, but it doesn't come with one. Also, the heater hose routing is slightly different than the stock manifold and this causes some confusion.

Jim W. says that after some port match work, it's worth some mild hp numbers, but for the money, it seems you can do better than the Edelbrock, since we have more manifold choices now. I'm waiting for the new TA manifold :TU:

I traded my brand-new unused Performer straight across for a brand-new T/A!! :Brow:

But then again, the whole front left corner was broke off!:ball: Good thing I know a really good aluminum welder!!:Brow: :Brow: Can't even tell now!

But for real, I would not recommend Performer except for heavy-weight daily drivers/tow rigs, IMHO.:Do No:
