Can anyone help me figure out what engine i have?

I have heard people talk about SF and SR motors, on the side of one of my blocks are the letters WF 070 and the other just has a F.

Is there a difference in power ratings or block integraty?

Two of the three sets of heads I have are 72 & 73.
The other are 70's off of an SR motor.

Whats the difference in the motors and heads?

    Thanks Dustin

Why dont you try the www.atlantabuick.com site.It has head and block numbers and will tell you about heads. The 70 heads are a better flowing head and smaller cc so your compression would be higher. ED

WF can be a '72 or '73. The only way to know for certain is to check the VIN stamp on the face of the block behind the lower radiator hose connection on the water pump. The first digit will be 4(Buick) the second is a #. This # will be the last digit in the year the engine was produced(2='72,3='73,etc.). In the photo below you'll see that the second digit is 5 for '75. The VIN was stamped here after '70. A WF motor is a big car motor (Electra, Rivy, etc.) and was rated 225hp @4000 and 360ft lbs @2600 8.5:1 compression, but this was this was the new net rating system.
