Hi guys, does anyone know of an automotive paint color code for the buick red engine paint? I'd like to paint my engine with automotive paint, and didn't know if anyone had a paint color code that was close, or exact. Thanks!
The correct Buick engine red paint from Dulpi-color has need discontinued for a couple of years now. I can get you the part number off one of the old cans I still have around. I suppose you could custom mix it. I talked with Eastwood about making/ adding that color to their selection but they haven't done it yet.
Hey Dan..I will soon be listing (3) BUICK RED CERAMIC COAT ~ NEW, unused spray cans I have in storage. PM me if you are interested. Only question is I am not sure HOW TO Package and mail them?? I assume GROUND ONLY. o No: Wheelz, Tampa Bay
Good product.. http://www.oldbuickparts.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=engine+paint&x=0&y=0
Duplicolor 1608 is the discontinued color that everyone though was great I have 3 cans tucked away for when I pull the motor
I've got a formula that I made back in '97, matched to the Martin Senour Buick Red that was discontinued long ago. It's formulated in Valspar 852 Urethane. Not sure if they still have that particular paint, but if so I'd be glad to share the formula.
Grabbed "RED" high temp engine paint of the shelf and never had anyone point and say that ain't correct!:Smarty: After it bakes on and gets a few thousand miles of road dust on it no one will know.
I was looking for more along the lines of an automotive single stage paint code that is close to the buick engine red. In PPG, BASF, Dupont, etc.
Ground only Wheelz, since it's an aeresol. Laws have changed a lot over the years, just ask UPS about shipping Lithium Batteries by air....
That's what I formulated the color in, Valspar 852 is an automotive single stage urethane. I could probably also do a sprayout of it, have it scanned and a formula made in BASF Uno single stage urethane. At the time I formulated it, I was working at a Valspar jobber. But at my dad's shop, we've been using BASF for over 20 years.
I bought 2 cans of Dupli-Color DE1653 ceramic paint for my Skylark recently (June) at O'Reilly's. It's still out there.
