Whether you think the atomic bomb should have been used or not, this is kind of a cool footnote to history. It seems the Enola Gay B-29 crew was firmly in our camp:

    B-29's on The History Channel

Did you see the show on The History Channel about the B-29's last night? Pretty interesting. The WWII planes are just plain cool!

Ever been to an air show displaying WW2 aircraft?
The sounds those big 'ol high compression radial engines make when they start.
Sends a chill through your body. :beer

I was in Midland, TX airport a couple of years ago. They house the Confederate Airforce there. Well I was in the terminial and hear this incredibly loud roar. Everyone looked up and say a B-25 doing touch and goes on the runway. You can't even hear the jets but when the old bomber hit the throttle to get back in the air it was incredible.

I live close to Dover Air Force Base. They occasionally have air shows. I've never been to one. The modern aircraft (like modern cars) just don't do it for me. I'd love to go see the old planes fly though.

They just opened the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center." Located at Washington Dulles International Airport off RT 28. This is where they dispaly the planes the Smithsonian had in storage at the Paul E. Garber Preservation, Restoration, and Storage Facility, located in Suitland, Md. They have the Enola Gay, the SR71, the Enterprise (1st space shuttle), etc. They have 80+ airplanes and some space crafts. PArking is $12 per car, but no admission, so you can bring a lot of people for not much. I tried to go the day after Xmas but the wait to get in was 2 hours! :ball:

I'm going back as soon as I can! :Brow:

It makes sense that they are Buick men. For better or worse, they are in the only demographic Buick is marketing towards.

That, and they're used to large vehicles with lots of power.
