I'd like to remove the box on the passenger side of the engine bay which I believe is the evaporator/blower assembly on my 71 GS 350.I've never had the A/C hooked up and is the only thing left of it.Since I'm replacing my blown engine I figured it's a good time to detail the engine bay and remove that assembly box.Is there anything I should know or have to do? I do see a few wires that plug in to the box,I'm not sure what they do?
AC Delete box from American Graffiti. That is what I did and had very few issues. The particular product seems to be a love / hate on this board. Me personally, I love it for what it does. Used my phone to take a pic. It is where the KB badge is at.
It is a lot easier with the motor out. You will have to move or remove your inner fender to get to a couple of bolts on the old cover and the blower assy.. Then just transfer the blower motor and the plug with wires, (you will see) to the new cover. After that it bolts right up. You may have to modify a couple holes or what not. For example my heater door would not open all the way so I just shaved a little bit from the inside. It is a lot easier than it sounds. The cover I think was 100 bucks, pretty steep for piece of F-glass but all the guess work was taken out. Hope this helps.
Thanks Joe,I edited what I asked because I found the web site and looked at the installation instructions. It is a little pricey, looks like $149. plus $20. shipping.
Order it from American Graffiti as soon as possible and give them time to get it to you. I waited for 4 months, and finally found one from a board member. Love/Hate is correct, but if you want to keep your heater, you will have to use this or make one yourself. It's a mess to get on and get to seal, but it is nice now that it is on. Also, make sure you save the wires and the resistor from the A/C box.
Lokks like TPP makes these now also. It's $100 cheaper on ebay than on their site. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968...ryZ10076QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
