Fan Blade 401

Discussion in ''Da Nailhead' started by Michael Neville, Jan 25, 2021.

  1. Hey everyone I have a 62 Electra 225. New to nail heads and this is actually my first car to mess around with. Anyone have suggestions on fan blades? I can’t seem to find much online.

    Hi,

I believe any GM fan will work with proper spacer or clutch height, more blades the more air it will move.

I know 65 Gran Sport used a 4 blade fixed fan on non-AC cars, I put a clutch fan with 7 blades from a 67 300 on my 401. Not sure what number of blades the AC cars used.

    Regards,
    Jim

Do you have a shroud in place? If you do, measure for the correct diameter. Be sure to level about 3/4 inch clearance. Post for a factory built fan under the Parts Wanted section on this Board stating the approximate diameter that you need.

A 62 Electra 225 (4800 series) used the following part numbers for fan blades:
    - Non A/C: 1344087
    - With A/C: 1185095

These were the same part numbers used on the 65 Skylark Gran Sport.

The A/C fan is a 5-blade 20" dia. setup. It also used a thermo-clutch. If you want a picture of this combination, let me know.

Does your 62 Electra 225 have A/C or not?

Then the fan and clutch you need would look like this, with the part numbers previously stated.

And this setup would be of little value to you on your A/C vehicle without its proper shroud. Without a shroud, the fan does little to pull cool air through your A/C condenser and your radiator. If you want your cooling system to function properly, you will need to find a shroud for your 62 Electra 225.
