Fan speed switch

    My fan speed switch works on every other setting. Off is off, low doesn't work, med. works, high does not, max. works. :Do No:

    Check your resistor array.

    I pulled the resistor array out and found that the resistors were all OK but that the 4 electrical connector tabs were extremely dirty. I cleaned and reinstalled the resistor and moved on to the blower relay on the firewall and cleaned that up too. I now have medium, high and max. fan speeds but no low speed. I also have a problem where the A/C compressor disengages if you turn the fan selector to max. when the A/C is selected.

    Here are the symptoms, if you select A/C and:
    Low fan - A/C compressor does not engage, fan does not blow any air.
    Med fan - normal A/C operation, medium fan speed.
    High fan - normal A/C operation, high fan speed.
    Max. fan - A/C compressor does not engage, max. fan speed.

    Any ideas?
