I think that we should develop a basic outline for the FAQ, with what we want to put in it (even if we don't have the info yet). Also develop formats for infomation to be written up so that all is consiatant and easy to collaborate and read when all is done. Posibally someone with technical/business writing experiance could suggest a standard format.

The old's FAQ does provide an excellent starting point for an outline. But I don't think we need to include genaric car tech/info, strictly buick info.

Gotta admit...442.com has an excellent FAQ section!! That would be a good one to copy.

Nick and Scott - Are you guys suggesting a webpage of FAQ, instead of forum topics?

If you're looking to replicate the Olds FAQ section (which is a webpage), the Buick FAQ page would need to somehow be linked to this site and someone needs to develop/maintain/update it on this server.

  4. Sure would be cool though, wouldn't it? Just need someone with lots of time on their hands....

    Guys,

I have LOTS of time on my hands these days, but don't have the technical Buick knowledge or the computer/internet know-how to provide any of the information or do any of the server stuff. If theres any way I could help with organizing or formatting of this info, I'd be glad to, but like I said, I don't exactly have the know-how to contribute any of the technical information or deal with the internet-posting/server side of thigns. Marco, lemme know what if anything I can do to help!

    Corey -

While I'm flattered with your offer, I am just a user on this bulletin board as you are. I have no administrative control.

I tried to develop my website 'Links' page to be pretty comprehensive, but I yield no control over this bulletin board.

Sorry - I'm just a Buick enthusiast in cyberspace...

Yes, I'd like to see an actual web page be compiled from information posted in this FAQ section. Similar to the olds FAQ, but not a exact replica. I don't expect to have a project like this come together in a month, but over the next few months I think we could collect enough to start a page. Not nescasarilly hosted on this site. Slowly write up actual articles and collect it all.

It would be quite an undertaking...but would also be a worthy goal!!

Just need to find someone with the right blend of computer skills and Buick knowledge...not to mention extra time!:Dou:

It would be nice to see some 'how-to' articles, complete with pics and all.:TU:

    Marco,

I'm sorry for the mix-up. I thought I read in the original post in "THE BENCH" that Jim had appointed you as administrtor, and I saw that the threads in ehre were started by you, so I kinda guessed yuo were da man in charge. Whoever IS the guy who's actually spearheading this, the offer stands. I can type and organize with the best of em, and have lotsa free time... so lemme know what I can do to help, no matter how small!

    ideas... and my thoughts..

    Mmmnnn....

I guess I though you guys wanted a place, were we would drop topics from other parts of the board in, and keep them, with all the discussion from as many members as had wanted to have input on the topic..

I have found that there are very few folks out there, who know enough, to sit down and put up a static web page, with absolutely correct info, and I include myself in that group... even though I work on these things every day of the year...

The strength of a board like this, is the opinions of a wide variety of individuals, and there are tons of you guys out there, who have very good info to share. Often times, "Concrete advice" is derived from an individuals perceptions and understanding, and that varies from person to person, and from application to application.

We all have seen "guy A" who loves "product X" and "guy B" who thinks that "product X" is not worth the box it is shipped in..

On this type of board, both these guys get to express their opinion, and then a person with a question, can get a wide variety of answers to increase their knowledge base of the issue at hand.

I can tell you, of all the static "FAQ" pages out there, I have seen some really good accurate info, and then some stuff that certainly can be open to discussion.

I will go pick out a topic, and then move it in this section.. so you can see what I mean..

The Super moderators, and administrators have the ability to take and move any thread, to and from anywhere on this board. If some of you want to volunteer to comb thru all the archives, and locate good topics to move to this section, then I will give you the appropriate permissions to do that.
