Hey folks, I'm getting dizzy here trying to find a site that can Decode my Fender Tag on my 72' Skylark Custom . Can some one help me out here ?

Tag on cowl L/C near windshield :

    72 44437 G 6935 BDY TR

    138 A65 14B PNT 09B (?) - some "goop" on the first portion
of that code which is near a rivet .

Car is a 2dr. 72' Custom Blk. Vinyl Top (not full) Black interior w/
    Manual Bench .

Car is painted sort of a Burgundy Color . But has a Lt. Grn.
undercolor w/ a light gloss to it. I was told that was a factory primer .

Any help would be appreciated . Steve

    Hi Steve -

    Here's how it decodes -

    Style 72
    444 Buick Skylark Custom
    37 - 2 door coupe
G - Framingham MA Fisher body plant
6935 BDY - Body number internal to Fisher (no relation to VIN)

TR 138 trim code black vinyl notchback (armrest) seat
    A65 - notchback bench seat
14 B PNT paint code Silvermist (14) with a black (B) vinyl top

09B - Fisher finished body assembly 2nd week September 1971.

    Fender Tag Info Solved

Thank You Marco . The Info is great !! Any Idea as whether or not this Light Green Met. I found is the " Silvermist ?
This Skylark might have been "pulled " from the line as the Burgundy Color was under the V. Top and no missed areas around jambs , trunk , or otherwise . Possibly pulled from the line
after paint and repainted for a Special Order ? Steve

    Two things here
72 Silver Mist had a good bit of green it it, so the "Light green metallic" you refer to may be original Silver Mist. Would need to see a pic to tell

Also, if there is Burgundy paint under your vinyl top, GM did not put it there. GM left roofs unpainted on vinyl top cars. Sounds like at some point your car got a well done Burgundy repaint.
