Took the car out for a little ride Sunday night, and stopped at a local weekly car show. Not much going on, so I left not long later. On the way out, a new GTO is up ahead. So I got up next to him, and it was a guy around my age (30) maybe a little younger. I had it in second gear, and just blipped it a few times to bait him and see if he would bite. He bit. I heard him step on it, so I followed suit. We were doing about 35 or so, and I dropped it into first and stood on it. Spun tires. Damn. Pedaled it, spun again. Screw it, I hit second and stomped on it again, and just drove away from him and watched him get smaller in the rearview. Damn, that was easy. I had my girlfriend in the car, so I didn't push it, just enough to make my point. It can be hard to tell from the drivers seat how fast a car is. Your body anticipates the acceleration and compensates for it. The next light had just turned green but there was traffic, so we had to slow way down. When he got next to me I gave him thumbs up to be a good sport, and he drove by yelling "NICE %$^&*IN' CAR!!!" with a big smile.

That's a nasty combo you've got there, glad to see one with that many goodies getting some nice quality street time in :3gears: .
i have a 66 skylark hardtop in motion as well. how far along are you? i just found the 455 engine and 400 turbo trans. will be awhile before i run a gto down.
Nice kill! I agree with it being difficult, sometimes, to really get a grip on how fast a car is from the driver's seat for the reasons you pointed out, especially when you've owned it for a while. But watching someone else dissapear in the rear view mirror always makes me giggle. Also, it's refreshing to hear comments from people riding shot gun. Nice build, btw. :beer
