Hey Jim, what is that solenoid lookin' thing at the front with the 2 red wires? My new 70 "cat (all numbers matching, inc. the 7040240) has the wiring plug but not the device into which it should plug!

Yes, that TCS is a common item to be missing....was a good idea but I don't know if that really worked well. Here is a pic of one, close up.

Have you ever noticed that the correct Muncie 4 speed has its own switch for that TCS function scewed into the side whose activation is dependent on the gear lever position. We had to hunt a NOS switch down from a Cal. supplier of NOS parts.

When you see this car assembled it looks so easy you would think that you can just knock it out in a few weeks. Besides we all know you can completely diassembled these cars in a couple of days.

Bert what you say is true with the exception of the funds. I kept, and decided to cash in, the complimentary resto coupon I got from Tri-Shield way back when I joined the V8 Board. Plus what I liked is I had two coupons (because I was able to get George's ) and they did not keep the cars very long. They knew I needed some instant gratification at this point in life and the last thing I wanted was to have a car in resto for several years as is typical.

Jim(s), Any idea how long it took one of these beauties to come down the assembly line from start to roll off? When I worked in assembly at Hydra-matic I seem to remember the 400 tranny taking roughly less than 20 minutes from bare case to test room. I'm sure a complete car was much longer but just curious as to actual build time at the factory.

Rather than misquoting it JW can tell you the GM measurement of assembly time in man hours. I suspect the car went though the line, not counting Fisher, in less than a day.

Those TCS switches work best when disconnected. :TU:

We were lucky enough to find NOS for both the carb and the trans switches. When combined with the new M & H wiring harness it all seems to work as intended.
