Has anyone dealt with Freman's auto wreckers in Whitehall Montana?

I am planning on heading there for some parts but don't want to drive the distance if it's not worth it.

They haven't answered any of my e-mails.

I have used them for lots of parts in the resto of my 75 lesabre rag top,
They (Neil) are very slow to respond, however the parts have always been top notch.
Doors, trim, inner fender, battery tray, etc. no rust and exactly as described,
    they have also provided shipping.
They are not cheap and some of the smaller parts seem more expensive than the bigger parts,
but they are not a rip off either.
If you are in a hurry they are probably not for you.
If you are patient or can go there I would give them 2 thumbs up
    Hope this helps
    Cheers

Larry. I bought something from them 15 years ago by mail. They were VERY SLOW to respond and SUPER SLOW to ship. Then when I got the part it was the wrong item. Thats when the fun began. It took 3 months to finally get my refund. I saw their ad in Hemmings. I believe the only reason I got a refund is I went to Hemmings directly and told them what was happening.

They were HIGH on their prices too

It probably worth it to see how they were now as long as you can go there. Your avatar doesn't say where you are from. Good luck.

PS I never went back to them for anything else.

Not recommended. I "traded" my 64 Electra convertible for a 64 LeSabre convertible. I was in Missouri and drove my 64 Electra convertible out to them for the trade. I had a clear Missouri title and the agreement was that I would have a titled 64 LeSabre convertible for the trip back.

I paid $900 to have a shop in Montana put a convertible top on the 64 LeSabre conv. So, I get into Montana and call Fremans. No answer. I go to Whitehall to a gas station (this is pre-cell phone) and up drives my 64 LeSabre conv, coughing, belching and leaning sideways.

Two guys get out and continue tinkering with the motor. Now, let me back up. My 64 Electra convertible was a factory 2x4 425 nailhead with a factory posi. That was the value. It was a Fred Flintstone car though and very rusty. I liked the looks and "economy" of the 300 cid LeSabre. I just wanted a cruiser.

But, basically Fremans did not start on my LeSabre until about 3 days before I came. He agreed to the deal, I communicated with him, then took a 1400+ mile trip. Instead of the 300 cid engine, the car actually had no motor so he put in a 401 he had laying around. Then only added parts enough to get it running. The back seat was not there so he grabbed an early 60's seat spring set and laid it in there.

Finally, no title. Probably never had a title. What could I do? Drive my old car back or take this car which I had paid $900 for a new top? I took the car and ran into trouble almost immediately with misfiring. I somehow made it to Sheridan WY, then it finally died in the Badlands of South Dakota. I had it picked up and taken to Murdo SD where a shop threw $150 at it in 1996 money. It then made it to Missouri, leaning sideways because it had been flat on the ground for probably 15 years before I agreed to the deal.

He then never provided a title. I too went to Hemmings. I think he is kicked off now (of Hemmings) He eventually provided me with one of those Alabama titles.

Basically this guy will operate according to his timetable and his rules. Lots of rust free western parts, sure, but now my 64 Electra - which he still has last time I checked about 2 years ago - is suddenly a $6500 car. I bought it for $1000. Rather then drop it to a reasonable price, he owns it now 16 years and won't budge. His perogative, but I feel he is justing playing the suckers and he probably owns the land, got all the cars for $100 each or free, and lives inexpensively.

Good luck, and if you go, let us know how the transaction went. I would avoid at all cost, personally.

I drove by the yard by accident when when visiting a friend in Whitehall back before the internet was so big. What I saw looked awesome.
Always said that I was going to go back and see what all he had when I had a few bucks in my hand.

A few years went by and everything was on the internet, including that yard. After I saw his prices I lost interest in going just to check it out. Too pricey for window shopping.

I went to Freman's last weekend and I was wowed by the inventory this man has!! It was amazing! I took lot's of pics and will post later. I found most of what I wanted, got a good price and had it ready to take home in 2 hours (he had to take everything off the cars.... fenders, liners, buckets, console etc).

I saw the red dual quad convertible. he says he is going to restore it some day. I get the feeling that's not going to happen. Its too bad.

I will probably buy more from him as I go through my project.
