Friend having hot stalling problems with his 94 Caddy

    Hello all-

Got a friend with a 4.9l in his 94 DeVille and it likes to stall out at intersections when the engine is hot. It happens every couple of days, and has been happening more frequently. Sometimes when it stalls it can be restarted right away, and sometimes it can't. When he gets it restarted, he has to give it some gas to get it to idle. Not sure if his overall gas mileage has been affected.

My first thought was that it was the TPS going out, but he pulled the codes and the only messages he got were on:

    - Computer Controlled Ride system (active suspension)
    - High Side Temperature Sensor (part of the A/C)

Neither one of these would indicate to me that they could be part of the problem. Anyone out there know their Caddies and want to take a stab at it?

    Thanks for reading.

    - Freed

    NJBuickRacer I'd rather be racing...

Check the ground wires near the starter, they are infamous for poor connection and the computer loses its zero reference for all the sensor inputs. They may not look that dirty, but clean them with wd-40 and coat them with dielecric grease before reinstalling. I have occasionally seen ignition coils go bad on them also, but the ground problem is much more common.

freed, many possibilities why your friends caddy is stalling. how many miles on the clock? the 4.9 caddy was prone to bad injectors also. how long since the fuel filter has been changed? the ISC motor could be acting up and still not set a code.
